Calling all Kayakers....

des9272

We had a busy morning out at the slip, when club members prepared the Kayaks for the start of the season. The kayaks were removed from their winter storage and assessed for general condition. Fixtures and fittings are checked, and in the case of obviously damaged components, removed so they can be replaced. The seats on many of the kayaks were found to be in an unsatisfactory state and will be replaced this year.

We also have a kayak that is no longer suitable for our purposes, and we have decided that it can go to a member who feels they could get good use out of it. The kayak appears sound but does not have a seat, although the fixing points are present and in good condition. You will also need to get yourself a paddle: we dont have an extra for this one. So, if you feel you can give it a good home, please contact a member of the committee.

Adopt this Kayak!

The club is also pleased to announce that we will be running a kayak course on Thursday night, from 6.30 pm, at the Maritime center in Fenit. The course will be run by John Edwards of Wild Water Adventures and is open to all club members who feel they would benefit, and can commit to volunteering for at least 1 kayak cover during the season. The places are limited to 12, and I would like to prioritise new members first, then members who have not done the course yet, and then all members. Please contact a member of the committee via facebook, whatsapp or email me, Des, on hello@traleebayswimmingclub.ie

Martin helps get the kayaks out of hibernation. Like a returning swallow, its a sure sign of summer.

Thanks to all those who helped out this morning, and for braving the 20 minute wait for coffee. The club appreciates your service!
