First of all thanks to all the members for coming out and supporting the club. It was great to see so many people enjoying the water and it made for a lovely atmosphere. Big thank you also to Hugh Culloty's Home Entertainment & Music Shop for sponsoring the swim. Like all our sponsors Hugh Culloty's is a local family run business and without the support of local businesses many clubs, schools and charities in town would struggle with their fundraising. Hugh Culloty's also stock the Garmin GPS Swimming Watches if you are interested in tracking your time, distance, stroke rate etc. Finally, thank you to our kayakers and volunteers for keeping everyone safe, Eoin Edwards from Wild Water Adventures in the safety boat and Karl O'Sullivan from Fenit Without for the stunning photos.

Big Welcome to our New Members
It was lovely to see lots of new faces around Fenit last night. We hope you enjoy the swims and get to know other members. This year there is a big emphasis on the social side of the club, having fun and helping more people enjoy the incredible swimming facility we have in Fenit. As the evenings get longer (and a little warmer!) there will be more opportunities for post swim coffees and cakes and even the odd pint. We'll also have a few BBQ's, two away trips and a hooley in the Sailing Club on July 16th. For more info about the season ahead click here.
A Changing Club
Sea swimming is growing in popularity and we've seen a big jump in membership this year. As a committee we're trying to get the club ready for even bigger membership numbers so we've been testing lots of new systems and undergoing a bit of a digital transformation. The goal is to make operations as seamless as possible while continuing to deliver fun, safe and enjoyable swims for beginners, leisure swimmers and racers. This is going to take time but bear with us!
Our First Hiccup!
Last night our timing system was overwhelmed by the large number of swimmers on the night and the number that finished together. As a result our new timing system has missed many of our swimmers in the water. With that in mind we have decided not to issue times for Swim 1 but we will have it corrected for Swim 2. We are looking at new technologies and different ways to manage the finish line. We're also leaving it until after Swim 2 to give out the handicaps.
On a positive note the number of swimmers that turned out last night blew us all away. We hope everyone enjoyed the night and we are looking forward to our next swim on Thursday June 16th at 19:30 which is sponsored by Fitzgibbon Interiors.
Thanks for reading,
Tralee Bay Swimming Club Committee.
